Vertai
MAE 152 & MAE 195, Winter & Spring 2014
Vertai is a type of shoe that switches between a sandal to a closed toe shoe with components that would stay on the footwear at all times. It started off as project for an Additive Manufacturing course (MAE 195) but was able to be used for an FEA course as well as the Beall Design Competition at UC Irvine.
The design team consisted of Isabella Samra (Women's Shoe Designer), Kevin Lam (Men's Shoe Design and Marketing), Jesus Ramos (PowerPoint Presentation Designer and Co-author), myself (Team Lead, Animator, Co-author, SW Modeler), and Brian Wang (Co-author and Analyst for 152). Though we had our respective roles, we all had to switch responsibilities every now and then in regards to this project having three different commitments. It was challenging but the team I had was creative, hard working, positive, and truly talented.
A Wideo animation, progress photos, and our product report from the final round of the Beall Competition can viewed on the right. Enjoy!
